Margot The Maggot Girl – Art Print By John Dunivant

October 31st, 2012 | Category: Art Prints

“Margot The Maggot Girl” is the latest offering on this Halloween by John Dunivant.  This eerie piece measures 12 x 13 inches and is an Archival Pigment Print On Canvas Gallery Wrap.  Available now at 1XRun.  A little more from the artist.

“Margot The Maggot Girl came together in 2007 from sketching up of a few different characters. I was thinking about the baby mutants in jars that old carnies used to display, a lot of the old fetuses that didn’t make it. They would have all these weird little mutations sometimes two heads, or no body, some with some seal-like flippers, all these different things. I was talking with one of the troops that we work with, and they would come up with these different names of combination of part animal parts humans, so I was thinking in that world. I thought how all these different babies would live and Margot became one of them. She doesn’t quite age. she still has the body of this little girl, but in maggot form. She can’t quite grow past that age, so she has this bit of melancholy about her. She used to hang in the arcade down at the original Theatre Bizarre grounds and this last year at the Masonic Temple she’s been hanging around the Theatre Bizarre stage. ” – John Dunivant

The Crow – Devil’s Night Print Release By Rhys Cooper!

October 31st, 2012 | Category: Art Prints

Rhys Cooper was one of the first artists Nakatomi contacted when they started their official series of “The Crow”, prints inspired by James O’barr’s classic independent comic series that itself in turn inspired the 1994 film.  This is truly a case of ‘good things are worth waiting for’ as this print is a monster.  Measuring 12 × 36 inches and is five colors with a secret glow layer.  This print is a timed-release with a max numbered edition of 200 including artist copies.  The sale period will go from now, until Midnight 11/1 central time, possibly sooner as the edition will be capped at 200.  Get yours over at Nakatomi

Shellac – Australian Concert Print By Jay Ryan

October 29th, 2012 | Category: Concert Prints

The gentlemen of shellac (of north america) have been in Australia for the last ten days, and these are the tour posters for their travels.  They specifically requested the inclusion of the “dog on the tuckerbox” statue (look it up), and some local fauna.  Due to geographic limitations, two versions were made of this print – the screenprinted version (pictured first) which was made at the bird machine, and a digitally-colored offset print version, which was printed in Australia.  They are intentionally different in color, and both worked out pretty well.  The screenprint (pictured first) was made in an edition of 300, using eight screens.

The offset version was shipped to Chicago from the Australian printer in a rather dubious box, and all of these prints have mildly bent corners, which are not creased, and are not in the image area.  Jay only has a couple dozen of these offset prints available.  They are signed, but not numbered and available right now at The Bird Machine.
